Landry Fields Joins Project B as Head of Men’s Basketball
Project B, the high-stakes global basketball competition built for the next generation of athletes and fans, today announced the appointment of Landry Fields as Head of Men’s Basketball.

Building on the foundation Project B has established from the outset with the best women players from around the world, Fields will work alongside Chief Basketball Officer Alana Beard to identify super star culture setters who represent Project B’s values on and off the court, and pair them with rising global stars to create a talent pipeline that continues to expand the company’s integrated global basketball platform with players at the center.

Designed to complement existing national team and professional pathways, Project B’s long-term approach will strengthen the global basketball ecosystem while advancing its mission to make basketball the biggest sport in the world.

“What drew me to Project B was the ambition,” said Fields. “Project B has brought together some of the world’s top athletes. I’ve known Nneka Ogwumike since Stanford, and she’s exactly the kind of culture setter you want to build with. When you combine leaders like Nneka with global stars like Azzi Fudd and Awa Fam, you see a platform that’s investing in the future of the sport. I’m excited to work closely with players to shape where the game goes next.”

Fields joins Project B following an accomplished career as both an NBA player and executive. After starring at Stanford and playing five seasons in the NBA with the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors, he launched his executive career with the San Antonio Spurs organization, progressing from college scout to General Manager of the Austin Spurs. He most recently served as General Manager of the Atlanta Hawks, overseeing basketball operations and roster construction. Fields earned Pac-10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in 2009-10 before being named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team following an outstanding debut season with the New York Knicks in 2010-11. His career has combined elite basketball achievement with respected leadership at every level of the game.

“Landry understands the game from every angle,” noted Alana Beard. “He’s been a player, he’s built teams, and he knows culture doesn’t happen by accident. He’s a collaborative leader who will create opportunities for players that work across the ecosystem to grow basketball globally.”

“When we started Project B, we set out to create a platform where the best athletes grow the game together,” added Grady Burnett, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Project B. “We believe the future of basketball is athlete-led. That comes with an equity stake and a seat at the table of the league. Landry brings the experience, the perspective, and the character to help us build that future.”

“I’ve known Landry for a long time, going back to our days at Stanford,” shared Nneka Ogwumike, Project B player and owner. “He’s the kind of person who leads by example and makes the people around him better. That’s something you can’t teach. As we continue building Project B, having someone who values people, culture, and the game as much as he does is really exciting.”

Project B’s inaugural season tips off in January 2027, bringing together many of the world’s best players across iconic cities in Asia and Europe.
